This
project allowed the consolidation of Southeastern Machine &
Tool from several locations into a single facility to create
the east coast manufacturing, distribution and administration
facility.
Complimenting over 6,000 square feet of office space is a 150,000
square foot production center. As part of this facility, 10
truck docks and a fully-interior truck receiving well with bridge
crane were required for the unloading of raw materials and the
handling of finished goods. The precision fabrication of custom
electrical equipment cabinets involved paint lines, drying ovens,
and other processes which required the design and programming
for specialized ventilation, air conditioned and environmental
control systems.
EDA's
services on this project were to represent and be consultant
to the ultimate owner and purchaser of this design/build-to-suit/fast
track project. EDA was responsible for monitoring the design/build
contract for the manufacturing building and office shell and
for providing design and layout services, overhead conveyance
system, and overall production flow within the facility. Construction
started in September and was ready to occupy by the end of the
same year.
