Named
after the Gingko tree that lines the adjacent Dale Street front
property line, this project includes the attachment and renovation
of 3 existing buildings. The original building was originally
used for institutional laboratories.
The
lower storage floor was lowered for a workable office ceiling
height and an open atrium space with a clerestory monitor was
designed to blend with the character of the architecture.
The
buildings were used as a National Guard Armory at one time and fell
into disrepair from lack of use.
This
adaptive reuse/renovation won the Sir Walter Raleigh Award
in 1985 for outstanding contribution toward enhancing the community.
