Elizabeth City State University Butler Hall Renovations

Butler Hall, a 129-bed men's dormitory, is located near the northwest corner of the Elizabeth City State University campus. The original three story south half of the building was constructed in 1928 and was demolished and reconstructed to match its original exterior design. The north half, constructed in 1938 was totally renovated with new mechanical and electrical systems.

The interior of the south half 11,286 Square feet was redesigned to provide pairs of bedroom suites with individual restroom facilities for more private living.

The north half bedroom layout remained the same, 11,913 square feet with newly renovated community type restroom facilities. A partial attic is provided for luggage storage. A new passenger elevator was added along with new entrance ramps and barrier free or handicap type bedrooms (2) with restrooms in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Guidelines and the State Building Code.
